“Not Just a Career, But a Calling”

I was in 4th grade when my English teacher introduced a new term seminar. I had never even heard the word before. Curious and a little anxious, I listened as she explained, “It’s like presenting before the class just like I do.”

The thought shocked me. But deep inside, I was also excited. How could I possibly do a seminar?

Back then, Google wasn’t a go-to for kids. So, I prepared using the knowledge I had and observed how my teacher conducted her lessons. The next day, when she asked, “Who’s going to present first?”, the class fell silent. But I stood up and said, “I’m ready, Ma’am!”

I still remember, the topic was Iron Man. I mimicked her gestures, her tone, and her flow. After I finished, she smiled, clapped her hands, and said something I’ll never forget:

“You naturally have the skill and style of a teacher! Go to great heights.”

That was the beginning;

From that day on, whenever someone asked, “What do you want to become?”, I would smile brightly and say, “An English teacher.”

I studied in the same school from KG to 12th. Every year during self-introductions, I repeated that dream. By 10th grade, when I stood up and began, “I want to become…”, my classmates chorused, “...an English teacher!” That moment affirmed my purpose. I knew I belonged to teaching.

I grabbed every opportunity to do seminars. And I found happiness in the little things reading books, teaching grammar, solving language puzzles, and helping kids learn English. I topped in English, and students came to me for help. By 12th grade, I was already giving home tuitions.

Im pursuing my B.A. in English Literature at MCC, and while studying, I got the chance to work in an English learning school. Step by step, my dream took shape.

Today, I believe this career is not just a job it’s my calling, a guiding light. It has shaped me, given me purpose, and helped me grow into someone who leads with heart and voice.

 My insights on a career follows,

Fix one career of your choice and work towards it joyfully. It won’t feel like a burden it’ll feel like a purpose.

Too often, people choose paths based on pressure or expectations, not passion. That leads to burnout and detachment.

But if you choose your own dream, and step into it with heart, you'll feel that invisible guide walking with you too just like I do.
